Coastal Vacations is a discount vacation/ business opportunity. Several years back when I was still searching for a profitable home business, I received a phone call about joining Coastal.

The guy was very nice and seemed pretty reasonable. He started telling me that I would make a thousand dollars per sale so this immediately sparked my interest. Then briefly, he described that the product I would be selling was travel packages that were supposedly thousands of dollars in discounts.

Here is how Coastal Vacations works: You call someone up tell them what your selling, they buy your travel package for $1300 and $300 goes to the company and you keep a thousand, then their first two recruits go to you as well.

After your first two sales, you become “independent” and go do the same thing. Now, this may sound like a great business to some. But the truth is that most people do not have a grand to spend, and most of your leads are going to be cold calls. If you ever tried cold calling then you know it’s a lot about getting hung up on over and over again.

Another problem is that your first two sales go to your “director” or whatever they call it. Those first two sales are probably going to be your warm leads, after that you have to depend on sales skills. Not to mention, you send the money straight to the director, so you have to trust that person to handle your money.

If you are an exceptional salesman with experience in cold calls, then it may be for you. I never did try the program, because I already knew what would have ended up happening. I never did talk to the man again, so I’m not sure if he made any money.
