Global Resource Network, which changed its name from Capital Investment Systems, operated out of Del Mar, California, up until a few years back. They claimed to offer training and business opportunities in note brokering, but really they just spent their time cheating people.

Global Resource Network would invite you to a free seminar, where they would try to sign you up for a one-day workshop. They promised that after the workshop you would be a fully trained internet consultant, able to make a fortune using leads and supplies they would provide.

The price for the workshop was $2,995 - but only if you signed up and paid the whole fee there and then. If you wanted to think about it and sign up later, they would say “Sure, but if you do that, the price will be $4,995." Some people were prepared to sign up straightaway, but they didn’t have the $2,995. So Global Resource Network offered to lend them the course fee - but at the higher price of $4,995. Amazingly, some investors took that deal.

Then you would get to the so-called "Training", which turned out to be business partners of Global Resource Network getting up and selling you their services. You had to pay more for “supplies” that turned out to be no good. The training manual you took away was no good either - the financing contacts at the back were all out of date, or wouldn’t do small deals.

One investor was mad enough with Global Resource Network to start up The Disgruntled Dealers Coalition, which grew to over 600 people. Then Global Resource Network boarded up their office and disappeared. Last I heard, the Federal Trade Commission filed a suit against them for selling fraudulent business opportunities and investments.
