John T. Reed started investing in real estate from 1967. He has owned properties in New Jersey and California and the total number of units rented are more than 115 and houses owned is 3. These properties are listed on his web site and he is perhaps the only investment guru, apart from Donald Trump, that lists his properties on his web site.

He works as real estate agent, manager managing offices, residential, industrial, and farmhouses. He is a graduate from United States Military Academy and a post-graduate in Business administration from Howard Business school.

He has written nearly 20 books on real estate business. He is the only author who comments extensively on writing of others in the same line of business. John has been a controversial personality in this regard.

Many allege that John T. Reed actually lost money in real estate and some say that he lost in each deal. Many persons believe that he lost money because of Tax Reform Act of 1986 (by reducing value of property), the oil glut (increasing un-employment) or savings and loan crisis (over-building of apartments in Texas area). John T. Reed was not the only one affected by this.

This is the reason John is controversial in the Real Estate business, some say that he has treated other writers with utter disregard. Many remember his disputes with Russ Whitney, even today. Despite the turmoil surrounding this author, many reqard his information as valuable and innovative.

You can learn a lot about the Real Estate business from his works, but remember, learning about it and profiting from it are two different things. Real Estate requires time, dedication, and discipline and because of the variety of factors that affect it, there are certainly no guarantees.
